Palermo, the beginning of our trip.
We stayed three nights in Kalsa, guests at Epifania and Fabrizio, two members of Magweb association. In these few days we found fresh energy, new insights and new friends.
We enjoyed walking the city centre and getting lost in its alleys. We enjoyed its colourful glimpses, sounds and smells. Every day we heard people talking loudly out of the bars or the balconies. Every evening, for some reason, fireworks started.
Many times the air was rich with the aroma of curry, turmeric and laurel. We felt right away to be somewhere exotic.
Between buildings and at the end of boulevards we could see the mountains. Then we thought about our upcoming walk, which cuts through connecting sea to sea, and the many encounters we’re about to make and how we’re likely to come back after a six months journey on foot, the longest we’ve ever been on.
